Project Update – Gare Maritime de Papeete, French Polynesia

Completed in 2011, the Gare Maritime de Papeete is a statuesque structure in downtown Papeete, Tahiti’s capital.
Roofed in shingles manufactured from Abodo's Tundra, the building has a decidedly tropical feel – true to the Polynesia roots of the country. The Tundra shingles have silvered off to a natural patina, complementing the natural surroundings.
Designed by leading local architect Tropical Architecture, the Gare Maritime is a landmark in Papeete, and the first point of contact for many tourists visiting Moorea and other French Polynesian islands.
