Craig Wilson, of TOA Architects, designed this beautiful home for his family – on a challenging sloping site tucked away in the Auckland city fringe suburb of Grey Lynn.

Extensive use of pre-fabrication, including Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), meant that structural components were pre-panelised and delivered to site.

This home is one of the first modern applications of ancient Scandinavian method to finish wood using Protector - Iron Vitriol (otherwise known as Iron Sulphate) in New Zealand.

Tundra Cladding was selected to contrast with the cleaner render and steel exterior surfaces, while the superior stability of Vulcan timber was used to create unique feature balustrades.

With a striking overall look, this home is surely set to win some awards.
