Now available to order, Vulcan Shingles are a durable, easy to install product delivering a high end architectural finish for modern applications.
In recent years, shingles have made a comeback in modern building designs, due to their textural, rustic charm. While historically made from cedar, our new Vulcan Shingles are created from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC ®) certified New Zealand radiata pine, thermally modified to bring the same level of strength and durability, but without the environmental cost of felling these old growth trees.
Increasing its sustainability credentials, where possible Vulcan Shingles also reuses offcuts from Vulcan Cladding and Vulcan Screening, which are verified to store more carbon than is used in their production.
Created for use on walls, roofs and gable ends, Vulcan Shingles are designed to silver off beautifully over time without losing structural integrity. This is due to a ventilation cavity system that enables air flow beneath the shingles, along with the patented vertical grain construction and fine band sawn face that Vulcan products are known for.
Further protected by a low-VOC water based OPX preservative treatment, Vulcan Shingles are delivered uncoated and come in two sizes: 450x90mm and 450x120mm.
They come equipped with a unique system that makes installation easy – see our installation tips article. All installation accessories, such as screws, Vulcan cover board, fascia and cavity battens are available through our order system.
Wellington Zoo has used Vulcan Shingles for their Snow Leopard Enclosure, where they help to create a low-profile, naturally textured and dynamic structure. Order a free sample below to see how Vulcan Shingles can work for your project.
