Vulcan Shingles
Abodo Vulcan® Shingles are created using Vulcan timber, resulting in a product with all the beauty, durability and stability of this thermally modified eco-timber.
Delivering all the charm of yesteryear and updated for modern applications, Abodo Vulcan® Shingles are a durable, high-end architectural finish for roofs, walls and gable ends.
Durability is furthered by a low-VOC, water-based OPX preservative treatment that guards against mould and insects. The beautiful toasty brown colour will silver off with exposure to weather if left uncoated.
It is also lightweight, making it easy to install and maintain.

Add to this the verified carbon storage status of Vulcan timber, which is created from FSC® certified New Zealand Radiata Pine, and these timber shingles are sure to tick many boxes for architects, designers and homeowners.
Wherever possible, Vulcan Shingles are created using offcuts or short lengths from the manufacture of other Vulcan timber products, therefore minimising wastage and making the best use of our natural resources.

Heat tempered timber
Vulcan timbers are treated with heat and steam rather than chemicals, which means the product is ‘pre-shrunk’ and will be more stable in service.
Natural Stability
Grown trees experience resistance (like wind for example) perpendicular to the grain, so it makes sense to produce wood products which are also cut perpendicular to the grain. Vulcan Shingles are manufactured with a vertical grain orientation, which means the shingles have great stability, even in harsh conditions.
Natural Durability
This product is naturally durable, Durability Class 1 (EN350-1).

Carbon Storage
Abodo's Vulcan solid timber is proven to store more than twice the carbon emitted during the manufacturing process. This means carbon is essentially locked in the wood during its useful life. Vulcan Shingles (Wall) store 18.03 kg of carbon per m2, and Vulcan Shingles (Roofing) store 25.52 kg of carbon per m2.
