Inspired by ocean driftwood, Vulcan timber’s brushed texture creates a tactile surface that can be used both indoors and out.
Vulcan timber in brushed finish perfectly mimics the natural effect of driving rain and wind by using Abodo’s state-of-the-art machine and a series of abrasive brushes to scour out the softer timber – giving a beautiful textured look.
Over many years of exposure to wind and driving rain, softwood timbers are affected by what is known as "grain erosion". This happens when the softer "earlywood" of the wood weathers back while the harder "latewood" of the wood's growth rings stand out resulting in a three-dimensional textured surface with unique natural grain variation.
Crafted using a range of mindfully chosen sustainable materials, including Abodo timbers, the design of Dunlop Hub HQ provides a beautiful and comfortable workspace. It mixes practicality with beauty, resulting in an artfully finished building that still allows for the hands-on nature of the business.
Dunlop Hub’s front entrance is lined with Vulcan Cladding, Brushed Finish in Iron Vitriol.
Feature walls in key areas of Little Alphas House's interior - such as the hallway, including ceilings, and the kitchen bulkhead - are clad in Vulcan Panelling with a V-Groove TG9 (175x10) profile, coated in Dulux Weathershield Maxiflex in matte black for a durable, family-friendly finish.
This panelling makes use of our Brushed Finish, which gives a textured, weathered look to the timber, not unlike that achieved by natural processes over time.
Aesthetically, Abodo timbers give the home a highly finished, contemporary country lodge look, with the upper floor of the home using a brushed Vulcan Cladding finish in Protector - Ebony, with vertical Vulcan battens laid over top at even intervals to add some visual depth.
Rather than a complete reclad, the owners of this home on the shores of Lake Rotorua have laid Vulcan Cladding (WB12 Profile 138x20) in a Brushed Finish onto battens over the home’s existing cladding, which now acts as a rigid air barrier.
This resulted in a relatively simple solution, compared to the alternative that required building consent and processes, which can be both costly and time consuming.
With the natural weathered look of Sioo:x on the two longer external faces, Cardrona Alpine Eco Villa 3 has a sunny look and feel, merging nicely with the tussock grasses in the surrounding landscape.
Exterior facades of the prefabricated home features custom-made Vulcan Screening (BAND4S Profile 42x25mm), Brushed Finish in Sioo:x Wood Coating.
Brushed Finish is available on Vulcan Cladding – Vertical Grain, Architectural Series and Vulcan Panelling. When combined with our pigmented coatings, many different visual effects can be achieved.
